Can you tell me if I saw an emo?

Today I saw a boy at college and he had long black hair and part of it was in a pony tail and he was all dressed in black and he had a long black heavy coat with a lot of buttons in warm weather and the coat was unbuttoned and he had big black boats and a black walking stick that he used and he talked funny.

NOO! That guy is by no means Emo, he sounds Gothic maybe even Black Metal at a push. Emo's DO NOT wear black. They wear bright colours despite their sad demeanour (which is an act by the way, some of us have real problems in life but we get on with it). They wear short, tight clothes. Guys will always have short - shoulder length hair with a long fring that always covers at least 1 eye.

You should be nice to the guy you saw, I'll bet he's an interesting character with a witty sense of humour. Emo's on the other are just f*ucking depressing to be around.

I can't tell by this discription he could've been goth, and there is a very small outside chance that he could be a hipster.
Was he crying? If so then he is emo.
Did he look sad? If so then he is emo.
Was he super ultra neat? if so then he probably is emo.
Does he has stiches on his wrist or some dumb tattoo that looks like his wrists are cut? If so then he is emo.

See if you can find him another day, if he wears some color or glasses then there is a big chance that he is a hipster.

If he wears silver jewlery or any jewlery then there is a big chance he is a goth.

He could also be: An artist, or gay or a combination of any of the above.

Things you know for sure though is that he is not a gangster rapper, or in a frat.

No one understands what emo means. Emo means emotional. That's why they cut themselves and where all black because they think no one cares and they are better off dead. They think hurting themselves might make others feel guilty or start caring. Then there's the emo style which consists of black, purple, and red. Guys wear heavy eye makup as well as girls. Skinny jeans,chain belts, and combat boots are also in emo attire. Many mistaken emo for goth.

Emo: he takes picks of him in akward angles, uses tight (tigh enough to make him look like he's using a diaper sometimes), thend to use the hair over one side of the face and usually girls are the rude ones nor the kids jajaja.
(I have some emo friends so I know how to answer this hahaha)

Actually I doubt he was an emo, probably just someone trying to be different or Goth or something. Usually emos try to dress in something a little more obviously feminine. Good luck :)

there are lots of emos at my school. They usually have dark circles under (&/or around) their eyes and have hair that is all one length to their chin. They also have lots of scars and cut themselves (they also might do drugs). They don't talk that funny though, they just have weird mood swings.
Your person seems more goth than emo.
