It has changed.
Homophobia used to involve shunning/disinheriting homo relatives and firing them from jobs. Or, it was a topic that was avoided.
As more and more homos come out of the closet (both famous and anonymous), the topic cannot be avoided any longer.
Seems to me that a polarization is taking place in the past 40 years. Either straight folks are starting to realize that homo folks are ordinary people and have started accepting them as such. Or they are digging in their heels and reaffirming their belief that being homo is a perverted, unnatural choice that should be punished like a crime.
Hate crimes against homos have increased. But that could simply because they are being reported more, not because they are occuring more.

I think that as GLBT come out into the public eye more, so do the hate crimes against us and the legislation against us. Years ago it was a crime to have homosexual relations; now it's a crime for us to try and get married to the ones we love.
It's increasing, in the sense that we *still* are not recognized as equal citizens even though we are people who contribute to society just like everyone else.

its on the rise, just out of earshot and among the younger males in my work place. I hear an awful lot of gay bashing and alleged abuses. As well as verbal harrasment towards alleged individuals (newly hired) suspected of being gay, these unfortunate people usually don't stay long, its a wonder that my company hasn't been sued for discrimination.
It's only a matter of time till someone get reckless and someone gets hurt for no reason.
Its really sad.

specific, yet then a number of cases directly human beings think of they are extra specific than gay human beings. the factor of gay satisfaction is that it has helped gay human beings to sense a feeling of belonging. purely because of the fact homosexuality is extra widely everyday those days, does not mean that gay satisfaction rallies would desire to quit. in the event that they did, it may be implying that there is not any would desire to be happy with being gay any further. And it is not even approximately being proud to be gay - this is approximately being happy with who you're: gay OR directly. the reason that there is not a 'directly satisfaction' is that there has by no skill been any want for it. If 70% of the international grew to become into gay, then i'm specific there could be directly satisfaction. gay satisfaction is approximately making a meant minority sense happy with who they are. it is not approximately making gay human beings out as being extra advantageous than directly human beings. the reason there is not a directly satisfaction is via the fact directly human beings can get married, kiss in public, pass to distinctly lots ninety 9% of bars and embody themselves with different directly human beings and hundreds of different issues that directly human beings take with none attention. If gay human beings had continuously been granted the liberty to do all of those issues, there could have been no want for gay satisfaction. And till now you call me a 'great fats gay' - i'm directly. and that i'm purely expressing my opinion, for the reason that your argument is actual unsuitable...

slightly in america hate crimes have decreased 87% since 1997 and from a survey ive read 78% of people dont care about your sexual prefernce and an amzing 93% of women and 56% of men wouldnt care if there children were lesbian or gay. It seems for girls it dosent matter but for guys its still a big deal unless you "bi" It seems no one has a problem if you still like girls which i dont get because if you like guys you like guys. whether your gay or bi lol.

homophobia as a bogus buzzword created by gay activists to give the false impression that people who resist the gay agenda are mentally ill instead of the other way around

I think it's very much subject to where you live. I wont even travel to the South, but here on the West Coast, I have no problems.

I think that when it is shown in public, there is a backlash against it. Nobody wants to be seen as an unfair bigot.

no matter what, someone out there won't like you for any number of obscure, idiotic reasons. a little bit of self-restraint in public is good for all kinds. oh, my answer is neither. history is full of opposite ends of that spectrum.
