I have seen some sites showing number of persons who are viewing (including me) and it is changing frequently depending the number of persons coming in and going out. Can any one help me who know it clearly???? Thanks in advance,,,,,

Normally the hosts of your site should have a section in the control panel that shows you the statistics behind the scenes.

But for the one you described, it sounds like "LIVE COUNTER" and is available from this site:

You can have the number stored somewhere like in a database and everytime a session starts you can keep adding that number and everytime a session ends just minus one number from the database.....

and display this number your your pages somewhere..

a session starts when a user sends your webserver a request and your webserver responds to that request...
