To set the record straight, Muralitharan is not exactly a "srilankan tamil". he is part of the tamil community in srilanka thats called the "indian tamil"(those who came during the british era)

the "srilankan tamils"(also known as "eelam tamils") are the tamils who are the native people of this country and have been living there from time immemorial (the sinhalese too came as foreigners in the 6thccentury bc, from india )

and i dont think that any tamil person from south india has muralitharan as a special favorite. i guess they all support the indian team,

Tamils from India has nothing do with Tamils from Sri Lanka
Muralitharan is an sri Lankan tamil
he is a sri lankan
much like the irish people have nothing to do with people with irish descent in usa and so forth

Muralitharan is a Sri Lankan Tamil person.
All the others except Mahroof are Sinhala. Mahroof(Muslim)
