my fiancee wants to name our son that because of a family member who passed away. I hate the name though it sounds so weird! Any other similar names or anything?
Desperate here,
Dana

I can't think of any similar names, but don't give your child a name that you hate! What about using Dimitri as a middle name?

These are all different versions of Dimitri, which mean lover of the earth:

1. Dametrius
2. Demetrius
3. Demitri
4. Demitrios
5. Dimitri
6. Dimitrje
7. Dmitri
8. Dymtrias

Why not just use it as a middle name?

Dimetrius (not sure of the exact spelling.) Can you convince him to use Dimitri in the middle name spot instead? I only know of one Dimitri. He is about 27 years old. I know a few people who really like the name and think it is cool.

I think Dimitri is a nice name. It doesnt sound ghetto.... because its not. Some very uneducated people may think so but its actually a very upper class name. I think its great and you fiancee wanted to name him after someone who passed away that was close to him is very noble. Good luck!

Well my real name is Mattimus, but I go by my alias name Saber. Maybe think of a nickname you like to call him. It works for me. All my homies, families, and co-workers call me Saber not Mattimus. Even my boss!

Try to get him to compromise and use it as a middle name or something.
