It just irritates me. You know, people tell lies just to make themselves feel better (refering to my nappy hair question). I am coffident enough to admit to my perceived flaws and my insecurities, that is what makes me a real coffident person. Someone who lies about reality is living in a fantasy world, where everything about them is perfect and they are without any self-doubt.
It must be nice to look in the mirror and feel so wonderful about yourselves, heck, it sounds to me like you guys have a real arrogance problem. But being intelligent, I know what being self-defensive means, and it is a behavior exerted by people that have insercurities about themselves. You are making yourselves look ignorant by being so blind and dishonest, why can't you take down your walls and show your weakenesses? I can't stand people that are full of crap...

All I'm saying is that people that lie bring down their credibility. If some of these people that answered my question were to tell me about something else, their lifestlye, their family, friends, the world, etc. I wouldn't believe them. You know, it's like the people that lie about their real selves or their personality.

I don't know why people aren't honest either...I personally tend to be brutally honest. Sometimes people don't want to hear the truth but if they ask my opinion I tell them the truth whether they want to hear it or not. I'm also not afraid r ashamed to admit that I'm not perfect and I do have flaws.

I ask myself the same thing every day.
My problem is with appearances: Trying to be emo when you're not, trying to fit in with the preps, trying to skate when you really hate it.
I actually got a bass that was too big for me on purpose just to make fun of the fact that I'm short. People that take themselves too seriously really piss me off.
Personally, I don't care. I just do...whatever. I don't follow trends, but I'm not going to NOT buy something just because its "in". You still care what they think of you, even if you are doing the exact opposite.
Then bands come to mind: The majority of them are just about the money. Or at least to a certain extent. And then they have to worry about their image. Take the White Stripes. Under every YouTube video, there's an argument about whether or not they were married and broke up or just brother and sister. I say "Does it change the music?" and it doesn't.
I just don't understand why people care so much about appearances. Like the music, it doesn't change who you are.

I'm so with you, though I've not seen the nappy hair question.
I have some in-laws who are just like that, and I wanna SCREAM! For instance, my bro-in-law is 23 yr, living with a 30 yr old g.f and it's like he's always overdoing things to how he's a grown man, his relationship is perfect, then he was an expectant dad, always more PDA (Public display of affection) over pregnant belly , baby is born-then being so self-centred how everything is going great-but guess what, we got invited somewhere to meet friends outside the family, and the world was not only about HIM! There were other new parents who love their babies as much, and who wanted to talk about other things besides HIS LIFE! I've never heard HIM talking about a life's struggle. Parenthood is hard for the first time, all my friends have said so, but my bro-in-law is making evrything sound glamourous from relationships to parenthood. Of course baby is cute when evryone is playing with him, and they try to look so in love in public, but I wonder what happens behind closed doors? He's wasting his time to think i'm buying all his crap. I once caught them arguing very discretely at a family reunion, and the moment they saw me-they went all smiles, last time he had a litle too much to drink at his b.day, and he was talking down to is g.f, then I know his women is always out with friends while he looks after the baby, and calls my husband all the time to babysit with hium while thy watch hockey on tv,but of course at family reunions its all grin and bear, or kissing right in front of my face...

People do dishonest things because they are selfish. They lie because they are insecure and feel that this is the shortest way to get what they want. It takes a bit of courage, confidence and a bigger soul to step aside and let another person move ahead, which sadly most people do not have. This spirit of humanity is more often overcome by their desire for less important things.

You have some problems. I don't know where you get the idea that those of us with natural hair woke up one morning, looked in the mirror and said: "Hey, I like my natural hair" and went from there.
It's not about "lying" or "living in a fantasy land". It's about forcing yourself to look at a particular object with an open mind, in a different light. That's why it's called thinking OUTSIDE of the box, or having an open mind, because you are looking at things from a new perspective that may have never been looked at before.
It was a process for most of us with natural hair to come to accept it and find beauty in it. Some may have fought with family and friends, spouses, lovers, etc to come to the realization in themselves to see beauty in their hair. Everything on earth is beautiful it it's own way, and this includes naturally nappy hair. It's a daily struggle for some of us find beauty in our hair. Just because you don't want to open your eyes and see this beauty does not mean that it's not there.
What really disturbs me is your attacking demeanor on those of us with natural hair who actually find it beautiful. You call us liars, and arrogant and ignorant. Well, dear, you are the one who is ignorant. You refuse to accept some one else's viewpoint and move on with your life. You are hung up on this, and you really have problems. Get a life, there are bigger issues out there going on for you to work yourself up into a tizzy over other what some strangers on the internet think of nappy hair.

Honey, you have a lot of growing up to do and surely I am younger than you. Most people do have insecurities but are you that brainwashed that you believe every black female has a hang up about her hair?
Yes, I'm insecure about something. I'm insecure about my body, not my hair and the the thing about my body, well I'm slowly getting over that as well

the reason is that a lot of people in todays world
really don't know who they are. for the most part people are generally a direct by product of the advertisments of todays society.

Get used to it. The world is full of buttholes, and it's not gettin any better. F-em if they want to pretend they are superior. You will be much happier without them anyway.
