I have a Whirpool refrigerator and the ice maker is not dispensing ice. It seems that the water is not getting where it should be. Aside from a clog in the line, is there anything else that can be wrong?

Don't use the paper clip unless you want to risk getting a shock! Just shut it off for an hour. Turn the ice maker back on and it should begin to cycle. Near the end of the cycle you should hear a hum for about 5 seconds and the ice maker will fill. If you hear the hum and still get no water then check to see that you have water to the back of the fridge. If it has a chilled water dispencer and it works then you have water to the fridge. If you have water then teplace the inlet valve located at the rear of the fridge. Also check to see if you have a frozen line where the water enters through the rear of the fridge at the top. You must clear this ice if present and also replace the valve.

Our ice maker quite working once and it was just that the motor had died. My husband went to a local repair shop and talked to a repairman. They sold him the motor and sort of told him how to replace it. It was right in the front of the ice maker and wasn't very hard to fix. My husband is not the handiest guy in the world but he did a great job on this.

Do you mean not producing ice ? You could have either a bad solenoid valve, or maybe your shut off arm is out of position. If its a newer style IM, you can cylye it by jumping T-H with a paperclip. If its an older style, the motor can be advanced by turning it counterclockwise with a small screwdriver. If this is all too much, call a servicetech. good luck.

replace your stopcock valve, that is the little valve that allows you to share water from your main water line. The part is like 5 dollars and is very simple to replace. Just remember to shut off your main water supply going into house first. I would almost guess 95% of the time that is the problem, good luck!!

cant be a clog in the line only two things either you have a leak, or filter is bad if the unit is real old you could need a new timer unit
