In the night sky. A red giant is a star.

An easy one to find is in Orion, which should still be visible in the early evening. Look for the three close stars in a row, slightly to the south. Then look up from there, and you'll see Betelguise, which is big and red and very bright.

A good candidate for that would be the star Antares in the constellation Scorpius. Antares means 'against Ares' - that is in red colour similarity - where Ares is another name for the planet Mars (Ares in Greek=Mars in Latin). Mars is known as the Red Planet, so Antares is to say that it competes with Mars in colour.

Antares is a Red Giant star and because of this colour association it has always been an object of interest to many civilizations throughout history.

A red giant is a dying star. Most Red Giants are light-years away and are unable to be seen.

AN easier way is to go to the web site www.google.com and click on images above the search box.
Then in the search box enter "Red Giant"

Here click on this link below to see many red giant stars.
