Yes, since you are using their network to access. They could log into your machine using Remote Access or PC Anywhere. Most corporations are now blocking access to Yahoo, Gmail, etc. Unless it is an emergency, stay off your personal email at work. Also, your business email usually can be recovered for 6 months or more.

There are IT professionals (Certified Ethical Hackers) that do this for a living. They work for companies to protect their networks and systems. Also check the "Code of Conduct" or "Internet Policies" that you more than likely signed as part of your employment contract. You might be in a union, but the rest of the population working for corporations are "at will" employees and can be terminated without reason.

So, I ask you, is your personal email that important? Or having a career and being able to pay your bills, put a roof over your head more important. If the email access is that important, pay for the service to have internet access on your cellphone and get your mail that way. The cost of that is cheaper than losing your job.

I'm sure that, if they wanted to spend the money, they could. DO THEY? I doubt it, but it your job on the line, not mine.
