Just heard a radio broadcast on this, with Rena Nerbat "the stain lady", yesterday. It was on CBC Ottawa. I'll try to find the site and put it on the source portion of this answer.

The key thing, when you have a stain, is not to try to put it in the washer and then dry it. It often sets the stain and makes things more difficult to deal with.

I heard two things that seemed appplicable. One is to boil water in a pot till it is generating steam (do not fill the pot). Drape the stained blouse (or whatever) over the steam and pour a kettle of boiling water through the stain from the top.

The second is to get some wash soap (sold at supermarkets as a powder) and prepare a solution and soak the stain in the solution.

Good luck.
