I need to change the fuel filter in my Mecury Grand Marquis..I'm not sure where it is located. I have the fuel filter but, its not where I thought it would be. Its a 1988. Can anyone give me detailed instructions to where it is at? and any tips for changing it would be really helpful.

Pleeaaassseee do not attempt to to this your self. The lines to the filter on this unit are held in place by plastic clips. Your new filter ahould have come with them, but they are troublesome to remove. Also, the system you have is under prusser, about 40 psi just after key off. On your back, under the car, is a good way to get it in your face.

Take it to a shop. be safe.

Follow the fuel lines from the intake back to the fuel tank and you'll find it. It is most likely on the bottom of the car near the fuel tank. Since you already have a replacement, just look for the part that it looks like. It will be very easy to find.

Fuel injection? It should be either along the underside of the car, along the fuel line, or in the engine compartment, on one fender well...if you haven't done it before, if can be very messy, and dangerous...have someone who has done it do it for you.

It may take a special tool to unclip the lines. It will be on the rail, under the car, slide under and look for it.
