I broke both my Radius and Ulna bones in my left arm above the wrist. I was just wondering about how long I would it would take for them to heal. Also my hand and fingers are swollen and although I know that the swelling is normal, about how long until the swelling disapears? Is it normal that when I try to move my fingers it is difficult, and that they are stiff in a certain position, and when I try to strech them out I feel like I am also stretching the nevers or veins in my arm.

Six weeks. Have you seen a doctor? If not, you better soon or they may have to rebreak it. That just happened to my son yesterday. They had to rebreak his hand.

The healing time is about 4-8 weeks. Most of the time it's around 6 weeks. It can take a while for swelling to go down, and casts can cause the swelling in your fingers. It's because of the swelling that your fingers feel so weird when you move them.

It takes 6-8 weeks for bones to heal, and 6 months to regain the use of your arm, if you ever do. It takes therapy to use your arm again, so unless you are going to make an wholehearted effort, you will not regain full use of your forearm. The swelling will not go down for at least 2 months. Depending on when the break occurred, you shouldn't even be trying to move your fingers yet, or stretching the arm. The more you stress the broken bones, the longer it takes for them to knit back together.

I broke my left wrist over 3 years ago, and will never have full use of that wrist again, even though I did get therapy and still perform range-of-motion exercises.

it is likewise achieveable that a broken arm won't heal in a solid. I broke the two bones in my arm 4 years in the past and became put in a solid in the beginning. long tale short, it regarded like the two between the bones had healed and that i had the forged bumped off. I got here decrease back a week later and found out that between the bones hadn't healed and became curving in on the ruin (i do no longer recognize the superb suited terminology for that). i ended up desiring to have surgical treatment to place a three-inch plate and 3 screws in my arm.

Your symptoms are very normal for that condition. It is important to keep movement in your fingers and hands, you don't want the joints to stiffen, and be hard to move. Arthritis will probably be your enemy later in life, where the break occurred. I don't know your age, but I would think 6-8 weeks would be pretty close to what it takes to heal. Do keep moving and excercising your fingers, it will get easier.
