You can't legally run Mac OSX on anything but an Apple Macintosh computer, small numbers of people have been able to illegally run cracks of the Intel version of OSX on non mac Intel computers however it must have very similar (if not the exact same) hardware to a mac, which your Compaq most likely does not.

If you are sick of Windows try out Linux or Free BSD both of which have many similar features to OSX, as a matter of fact, OSX is largely based on Free BSD.

1) There are programs around that. Emulation programs that run Mac OS on Windows.
2) He is probably referring to an emulator. Basically you would have to run the emulator and then you have a mac version of your pc. Then maximize the emulator window and there is your mac.

#1 Yes. I'm not aware of current Mac clones.
#2 Not really. check out this:

If you want the perceived benefits of a Mac, you need a Mac, not an emulation.

#2- your friend is probably running the software that makes his PC look like a Mac, but it can't be running Mac software. It's kind of like a skin for your computer.

Hi. Those are not stupid questions. My PC (home-built) has some features of both OSs. I like the dock feature (from RocketDock) and I like Win XP Pro. I don't know about a complete conversion though. Anyone?

2 You could run linux if you are looking for a stable OS that won't get flooded with viruses and spyware
