Can't help but notice that no liberals got nasty here, but many, many conservatives did.

Fact.

I'm not the extremist you're wanting to hear from & I don't have the proof you desire either but I will say this. The people define the country & in the USA the people have for far too long let this defining be done by polticians. If the situation was as it should be in the first place then speaking out against the government IS speaking out against the people.

Speaking out against the administration only means you hate the country when that administration is republican. When Bill Clinton was president, speaking ill of the president, showing contempt and disrespect were the height of patriotic fervor.

That is because "R" stands for "Righteous," and "D" for "Demonic," don't you know?

I guess to be fair, some of my ultraconservative friends insist it is only unpatriotic to speak ill of the government during times of war. Which is why the favor perpetual war. Just so long as their friends in business are rolling in bloated no bid cost plus government contracts, we must all keep our mouths shut, our eyes shut to the evils perpetrated by this administration that claims God's blessing but engages in unprovoked war, torture, secret foreign gulags, violating international treaties, domestic spying... The list has grown long and tedious and far too many conservatives have simply turned a blind eye to the excesses of Chimpy McFlightsuit.

It is absolutely wrong to say the government represents the country. We have a free and absolute right to vigorously complain or oppose the government on any matter. As long as it's peaceful and in the interests of the country, it's good. Certain right-wingers don't understand the difference between wanting the U.S. to lose a war that's good for us and wanting the U.S. not to fight a war that's bad for us. The first is treason, the second is patriotism.

the main problem as I see it is that many of us in the US are not being represented in the government, until recently. If my congressman (Coleman from Minnesota) only votes for issues that extend his Right wing ideals (which is the case) then 47% of the people in his district are not represented and their political desires are ignored. That creates a very powerful and cohesive opposition to him. He is an idiot for refusing to represent us. If he wants to be a Republican and stay in office, he needs to be more like Arlan Specter and make his decisions based on fact in a wiser sort of way..."Opposition" is a very very patriotic act and serves to keep politicians in check.

The government represents all the people,if it does some-thing you think is against American values, you have a duty to speak out.The people are not servants of the government, the President is not a god.'My country right or wrong' is a scary notion. So,speak out & save Democracy.

Yes a country is defined by its politicians! We the PEOPLE vote them into office. You can not separate the American people from the Government unless you are a brainless Liberal.

Speaking out is perfectly fine. Marching up to the White House with a bullhorn and calling the president stupid while simultaneously demanding that he come out to 'discuss' some things like that pig Cindy Sheehan did, is not.

Instead of lobbin sh!t and half-@ssed logic, why don't you protest in a dignified manner? Do you really think a Conspiracy mob on the 'anniversary' of 9/11 near mourners is going to help anything?

Doesn't the goverment represent the country? The people may not be in favor of their goverment but it's always been considered an insult against the country when it's goverment is insulted. There is to much bashing of the goverment, it's gone way over the line and it really makes our country look idiotic that we allow the amount of it we do.

Simply because you are demeaning the Administration. The authority of our country. By showing disdain, and uttering gutteral threats you are attacking the Governing Body, just as much as the insurgents in Iraq are. You are no better than they are, yet we allow you to continue...WHY??? because you still have the great freedoms of our country and can....We are trying to give Iraq that same life, and you and the Lunatic Liberals are trying to deny the Iraqia that along with sabotaging the war effort. I only wish my Knee would cause me to Kick a Jerk
