Yes. I believe the people are starting to realize that a 2 party system only benefits those who are in power. The 2 parties have made it all but impossible for a Third Party or an Independent to run & win in Congress, the White House, all the way down to your local City Council's. I for one am fed up, & I know I'm not alone. "We The People" is a lost phrase on politicians right now, & the only way to get their attention is to elect normal, working men & women into power at all levels of government. I only hope "We The People" can do something before our leaders sale us, & our country completely down the river.

People are becoming more and more introspective and independent.

Liberals and Conservatives alike can thank Bush for creating the most politically aware and charged atmosphere since the 1960's- though a more rational and informed lot we are now- less drugs and more internet research.

Could it be possible that Bush's excesses are one step in a greater plan? A New World Order based on real justice and equality?

People are showing up in droves to town meetings over smoking bans, ordinances, pet leash laws- you name it. I see this every day. They are also forming groups concerning the impact of wind farms, for wind farms, for seabourne windfarm ships, for gay marriage, against gay marriage- this decade is warming up for a very exciting decade to come! Don't we Americans LOVE the turmoil- even Conservatives have a romantic view of the 1960's, loved Forrest Gump, and hell that's some great music. I can do without the Patchouli oil though....

I just read yesterday--forgot the name of the publication--that 50% of the U.S. population identifies with the Democratic Party/considers themself a Democrat while 35% identifies with the Republican Party. So yes, there is clearly a shift going on in the country and it is shifting towards the Dems. I think when we look at all that took place last year with the Congress and the White House and all the abuses and the problems with the economy/Iraq war that is clearly having an effect.
