Are you referring to members of the media who are violent?

Or, do you mean "depictions of violence" by the media?

i think when a child is exposed to any kind of violence, he/she MIGHT have a greater tendency to act violently, UNLESS the parents or some authority figure are able to instill in them that the images they see are not real or not acceptable. i think an equal amount of nonviolent video games/movies are needed to allow a balanced view of the world. but just playing a violent video game is not going to make a child beat someone up, etc. as with most things, this is not balck and white. EVERYTHING has an effect on childrens' young minds, and i dont think we should be censoring everything they watch but they do need to be taught was is acceptable and what the reality of the world actually is.

I think the use of gratuitous violence is awful.
Kids see this and think it is the norm, and IT'S NOT and shouldn't be!

Yup. Once you become used to something, it doesn't bother you any more.
