I think all of a sudden he has realised that he needs to taste how it feels to be the captain of the team, that is the reason he declared that he is willing to play in the 2011 WC too. But he should realise that with time everything comes to an end, and so has his form. There is no denial about his past contributions but we cannot relish the past and look towards the future, it is true that in the recent past whenever the services of this little master was required he failed miserably, so that is an indication enough that its time for him to say adieu to the game. Continual persistence will only lead to disgrace and blame as is happening now and his stature would be reduced to shambles.

What I really think is, selectors should kick him out of the indian cricket team. Let's face it, he has had enough injuries in the past that I don't think he's perfectly stable now. He hasn't showed good performace in any of the recent matches, not that I know of. So, instead of waiting for him to retire, I think selectors and Indian cricekt team should take the decision to make him resign.
He was good...was. He's hopeless now. You can't expect those good scores from him, he's old. So, kick him out - that's my answer.

He already announced that he wont retire before world cup 2011... the board cannot kick him from the team because he holds so many records in his name(most runs, centuries, matches etc.).. And he also is not playing for india to win.. he is now playing to increase his record to mountaineous level so that it makes other players to take time to reach his record(eg. ricky ponting)
the most importing thing is he is in a deal with the advertisements for more than 2 years.. so, he wont open his mouth till this world cup ends.. and then silently he will continue his bad career.. his only aim is to become the richest person in india(via cricket or via advertisements)

Let Sachin to take retirement himself, instead of kicking him out, because his credit to indian cricket is extraordinary.

He has done great honours to the nation in the past yes, no one can deny that and will hopefully continue to do so by retiring from at least one day cricket.

He is a great player indeed. But as far as indian team is concerned , i don't think there is any thing left in him for the team and he should retire.
