HI
The lead singer is what I like. Vocals are what catches my ear in any type of music, if the singer has a nice voice I seem to enjoy the music better.

Everything is important in a band. It's how the sound connects to create something beautiful alltogether.
Now, I'll answer your other questions.
Yes, it does matter to me if the band is also good in concert, because some bands use computer to change their voices and touch up on all the music, so its all fake! You need to hear them live to prove if they really have the talent, even outside the studio.
It does not change for different genres of music.
It does not matter if the lead singer is a female or a male. We are in 2007! Women are as good as men at everything. It actually depends on the band. If you want a higher voice or just any characteristic found in a woman or a guy's voice, then use the gender that you want, but give both sexes a chance!

1. All the parts are important, and if all of them are good seperate then together they'll rock! I judge a band based on that...
2. I don't like a band if they aren't good live
3. It pretty much stays the same for all genres
4. If they can sing, I don't care. Although I would probably be more likely to like a band if there are some hot guys...looks and sound, the total package. But I've heard some great female leads aswell...

I just really get caught up in the lyrics. The lyrics is what makes the song sound good as well as the artist or band. It doesn't matter if the artist is male or females. And great vocals is always a plus and the guitar is too.

ranking-
1. lyrics. definitely lyrics. lyrics are what the song is about. they put the emotion and thought into a song. that why i hate rap. all the lyrics are about sex and booty there is no meaning
2.its hard. i wanna say vocals, becuz they are singing the lyrics and bad vocals can turn a good song bad, but i love guitar, and yet i love to sing so..........i'll go with vocals
3.guitar
well, i could live with a band thats not all the great in concert, since i'll listen to their albums more, but it always helps when they rock in concert!
i dont care if the lead singer is a gian man eating lizard ka-bob(although that would be AWESOME!) as long as they sound good. ever heard flyleaf or paramore? both have female lead singers and theyre awesom!

i love the lyrics. its so meaningful =)
im not sure how bad you can be in concert, unless its a band who just stands there sing and not at least make contact with the audience. it'd probably matter at the least
it depends..like for example, i was listening to "this is why im hot" i like the rhythm and music, but the lyrics are just plain horrible.
the genders of the lead singers dont matter to me =)

Lyrics are important. Especially if a band writes there own music. I am kind of turned off by bands who can't write or don't write there own lyrics. I don't know how certain musicians can you call themselves artists if they don't contribute that way to their music.
It definitely matters if they are good in concert. If you are paying to see a band and they suck, it is pretty disappointing.

I don't know if this fits in but at least it's a different view. I like Classical music. No vocals, no lyrics. Just music.

Vocally i like to have the ability to take heed to the lyrics, as lyrics are important to me. although my regularly occurring variety of vocal is the shrieks and screams and pig squeals of black metallic, that are, to me, very almost impossible to decipher. I additionally fairly like dying metallic grunts (even although I must be contained in the superb suited temper for those) and those are quite complicated to comprehend. i locate, although, that as quickly as I've learnt the lyrics i'm able to take heed to them, no remember how extreme the vocals. Lyrically i'm no longer a extensive fan of the fundamental violence/anti-Christianity/professional-devil themes of multiple metallic. I advise, i like particularly satanic black metallic or gorey detah metallic each so often, yet I want lyrics that make me think of. i like bands like Deathspell Omega who handle devil on a greater metaphysical point and communicate it as a theology particularly than as a worshipping act. I additionally love bands like Wolves contained in the Throne Room who've lyrics with regards to the earth and the ecosystem. i like political lyrics and have a responsible excitement in gothic lyrics approximately lost love. I fairly savour bands whose lyrics tell a narrative like a number of Opeth's artwork.
