You still believe in your cause but see it is going nowhere; you are standing on crumbling ground and need to get to safety. Where do you look for your safe ground? In an obvious place like retreat or do you simply alter your stance? If so, how...with what tactic?

Wow..I hope you mean figuratively, because I can relate to that =) I guess it's just knowing whether your cause is actually worth it. You ask yourself, "Would my cause make any positive differences?" and if so, then you keep fighting.

Obviously this would de pend on the situation.If it were my supervisor I would say I,ll thi nk about it.Then ask if we were done.If it were my sons,I tell them to think about it.If it was a friend I would make a joke of it and if it escalated I would tell them they are acti ng passive agressive.If it was a patient I would try to change the subject.But still if it was my parents I would get defensive because of old childhood issues and would probably leave.

Depends what I can get out of it. Sometimes you have to pick your fights. Sometimes you have to fall back to regroup then attack from a different direction. Sometimes you have to make a tactical with drawl, and fight your way out so you are not completely overrun
