HELP, my yard is infested with ticks what is the best way to get rid of them?

House area approx 1 acre, additional land, and woods 7 1/2 acres. Mostly interested in the house area.

get some CHICKENS they love ticks. I have been tick free for years.

You can't get rid of them. All you can do is avoid the woodedor tall grass areas, or only go there when you've applied a repellant. Keeping the grass short will cut down on them near the house, and so will keeping trees & bushes a fair distance away.

Check yourself several times daily in the springtime, which is when they are most active.Fortunately, they become much less aggressive after spring!

If you spray with an outdoor fogger before activities like cookouts or parties, that will help also.

You could try Sevin Dust from Ortho but if it doesnt work you probably need a pro. I have used it in the past and it has worked fine. Until last year. My next door neighbors dogs were infested last year and my dog was just on the other side of the fence and got them very bad. We tried Frontline on the dog and Sevin Dust and took all the vegetation down to the ground but nothing worked until I called a professional. It was around $100.00 but it worked immediately and ended the problem. I am an organic gardener so this was a difficult choice but sometimes you need a pro.

make an appointment with your vet first
then buy a tick collar to kill those eggs...
If the ticks already got to her burn the ticks out with a small needle
but ... definetly go to the vets!

Fleas are a major pest. There are various species of fleas - cat fleas, dog fleas, rat fleas and rabbit fleas.
You can get rid of them by the safest and cheapest methods like boric acid.

There are several types of sprays(you mix with water in a sprayer) that help with that. I can't remember what brand we got but we got it at a building supply. Hardware stores carry it too. Good Luck.

go pet shop and get some cans of smoke bombs put one in the middle of each room shut all windows and doors press the can down in one room then get out of the room shut the door put a towel at the door so it does not escape dint stay in the room then when one room is done do another remember to not be in the room and don't breath it in it tells u how long it takes on the cans

Get granulates at Home Depot to kill insects ticks, ants, etc. you can use for different plaques, and also you have to watering your yard often (TRY TO KEEP YOUR YARD WET) they like dry yards.
