Reason why I'm asking this is I had someone tell me that they were concerned by some of my comments about Iraq, the NRA, and the US education policies. My comments about Iraq, were that we created most of the problems there today. Comments concerning the NRA, well I'm a member. In regards to education, I said that we should spend more to help those that cannot afford to go for higher learning.
But, I was called a 'flaming' Liberal, because of these viewpoints. I view myself as more 'middle of the road' than anything else.
So, please explain things to me!

LIBERALS
Liberals share a belief in individual rights, free enterprise, representative democracy, and the rule of law. In this sense, almost all Americans accept liberal ideas. So much so that it is easy to forget how revolutionary these ideas were when the American Constitution was written. Thomas Jefferson said, “Peace, commerce, and honest friendship with all nations, entangling alliances with more.” All of our founding fathers considered liberalism a foundation of “the great experiment”. America since Reagan, liberalism has been colored to appear weak and elitest and our military force is used to intervene in other nations affairs.
Think liberal, think BIG.
Conservatives are the opposite of Liberals.

I don't think it matters.
You feel how you feel about all the issues and you should feel that way because of yourself and not because you are towing some party line. If it winds up you're called a liberal or a conservative so be it, they can call you what they like, but you're the only person who makes the ultimate decision on who you vote for.... or at least thats the way it should be. And you should vote for who you think will do the best job regardless of party. And its no one's business either way.
This two party system causes so much division and forces us to focus on things that aren't as important as others... it helps people label each other so they know who to discriminate against... etc...
I'm sure we'd all be a lot better if people weren't so worried about what a good conservative or a good liberal should think or feel...
These labels are pointless and most of the time borderline irrational.. its almost as if we need to create labels in order to posses an identity.
Its easier to assign you to the term "flaming liberal" in a derogatory context than to actually think about the points to have to make.

I know people who believe they are conservatives, but when we have conversations about issues, they actually believe the same things I do. I think they are liberal and they think I am conservative. I think people are a lot more common in their beliefs than they know. I place the fault of dividing our country on the shoulders of the media. Without conflict many would not have a job. Watch any of the shows (either side) and you will become aware of the fact that there isn't any real conversation about anything being done. Just a lot of finger pointing. The sad thing is how many people cannot see what is happening and jump on one band wagon or the other. What ever happened to "just the facts, only the facts!" The media now thinks its their job not to just report on issues, but tell us what to believe too.

I think conservative are people who don't like change. They like simple answers to everything even if those answers don't fit. Liberals on the other hand come up with a lot of complicated solutions to problems that only intelligent people can implement and follow. So being a moderate is a person that can make reasonable changes that most people can follow. Conservatives I might add seem to think that anybody that is not with them is a liberal and they don't want to recognize us moderates.

you may no longer ask those long questions right here because of fact any considerate answer would be pushed down after the guy certainly shows you the respect of analyzing it. It seems exciting. I have not any doubt that Liberals have extra dopamine. Such consumer-friendly sense purely like when I heard scientists finally announce after years and years of examining the venture that they found warmth taxes muscle groups.

Poo poop dee doo.........
Liberals are far left not "extreme"......
Conservatives are far right not "extreme".....
Too far left is socialism.........
Too far right is fascism..........
Most of the people who view themselves to be one or the other want everyone else to side with every view that they have. If you don't then they label you the opposite of what they view themselves to be. In truth anyone who is so set in their ideology that they are incapable of deviating from it when the need arises, are imbeciles of the first order.
Common sense doesn't adhere to any set standards. The world is an ever changing place and you have to be flexible if you want to survive.

I've come to the conclusion that liberals think that gorvernment should be an instrument of the people, and conservatives think the people should be a tool of the government.

Conservative is traditionally Anti abortion pro gun. And Liberal is Anti Gun pro Abortion. In an egg shell, there's a lot more to it then that but that's it in a nut shell.
