Garfield hands down. although tom was a sneaky plotter and master planner, he never caught jerry. and jerry is a mouse. garfield is a fat lasagne eatin maniac. which would lead me to believe that he is part italian. this means that he probably has connections with the mafia. tom really cant even compare to the amazingness of garfield. i think a better question would be would Heathcliff or Tom win in a fight.

first, Garfield and Tom might gang up on Heathcliff for being this sort of pissant. Then it would be between Garfield and Tom, and Garfield has the brains, yet Tom's have been given weapons. you know what they say, on no account convey a tray of lasagna to a gun combat. Then SYLVESTER might drop in and kick the crap out Tom, yet that stupid little yellow chook might get the final of him and in the top, no one might win.

As much as I would want Tom to win, I think Garfield would end up winning. He is smarter than Tom, but not as fun.

Garfield wouldn't lift a finger to fight Tom, this cat is too lazy.
And if we use Tom's record on Jerry as a reference for a calculation on the outcome of a future fight, he can't defeat Garfield, at best it ended in a tie.

Obviously Tom! At least he gets lots of exercise from chasing Jerry around al the time, where Garfield doesn’t do anything but eat lasagna and lie around on his fat arsse! Tom all the way. woohoo!

Tom was more aggressive but Garfield was much smarter. I'll go with Garfield because he would outsmart Tom and frustrate the hell out of him. Tom couldn't even catch a mouse for heaven's sake!

Because Tom is more of a fighter. Garfield is pretty lazy and only messes with those who won't really fight back like Odie (who doesn't take Garfield seriously) and that poor little spider( who's too small to compete).
