Dog Love (below) defending a lie is never in the best interest of any involved. His family members are now suffering even more than before going through this ordeal. Waht does being in a fire fight have to do with lying.
Yes. I have been in fire fights growing up in Chicago. I've almost been killed twice yet did not flinch in the face of my enemy. It isn't like TV buddy.

Real high profile patriot!
Many people following his decision to fight for our country instead of wallow in greed of overpaid sports hero's!!!
Beautiful human being from what I understand and the government wanted to capitalize on his sacrifices!
Telling the public he was killed by our own military ......how can you celebrate and exploit that for propaganda purposes???????
Tell the people what they want to hear!!!
That's our government's motto!!!
But the truth always comes out in the end!!!

Tillman was a paragon of patriotism and sacrifice for his country. He turned his back on, literally, millions of dollars, fame and celebrity to serve his country.
As such, he was a shining example of what was right in our military.
If it came out he was fragged in a collosal screw-up by our own, it looks bad.
It was also true that he was vehemently against the Iraq war, and thought the adminstration was foolish diverting their efforts there- and that also comes out if he's dead and nothing is covered up. Also, if that comes up, in light of the fact that he was due to rotate home soon, would probably have spoken up, and they destroyed his personal effects and journals, then people start asking questions if it was really an accidental friendly-fire incident.
Dislaimer - I'm not saying it wasn't, but if people can try and deny that a plane crashed into the Pentagon, depsite dozens of eye-witnesses who actually saw the plane burrow in, imagine the time they'd have with these circumstances.
Finally, they can't use his "ultimate sacrifice" fighting "evil-doers" and can't call on others to, if not meet his high standards, to at least follow his example if it is known how he really died.
They were willing to lie to his family and the nation to cynically exploit his corpse for propaganda purposes.
Not exactly honoring our military or our heroes.

Did they lie? Or was it bad information from the commanders in the field? But if it was a lie, Yes, Why?? To what gain?
It doesn't make sence, does it? Who would be hurt by the information? Friendly fire is common in war, statistically killing 10% of all friendly deaths. So what was any different about this one??

The Pentagon is headed by the Secretary of Defence. The Secretary of Defense at the time was Donald Rumsfeld who is a liar. The boss sets the tone for everyone else.

My reaction to her is that she is staying with us to get better, she will on no account be any good to the toddler if she is going domicile and collapses and that i've got sent a nurse to assist her husband.

Wow, firefights in Chicago?
Between who?The police and criminals? Rival gangs?
I'd have to wonder why you were involved? Who was your 'enemy'?
And I'd have to wonder what your definition of a firefight is?
Tell us about it when you experience the real thing.

I hope so. I've been surprised at the number of people stupid enough to think we need to advertize our every mistake to everyone in the world just to please political opponents of one side or the other. They did the same thing to President Clinton.
Shamed our country then, does now.
Some people don't know the difference between seeking justice by pursuing legal and well-established ways to find out the truth...
vs....
...sedition, where they resort to name-calling, spreading unfounded rumors, and treating our officials as guilty until proven innocent.
Do you know the difference? It isn't showing.
