Some of them, intelligent, or mentally ill, are able to free themselves from the chains of society, from the laws, rules, and morals that hold the rest of us back from acting out our anger, fantasies, and violence on others. They are the marginal, the abnormal (in the classical definition of the word).
As Dr. Hannibal "The Cannibal" Lecter says:

no fav. IQ's are high because they can do anything (for some of them i mean anything) so they get bored and annoyed at how stupid everyone else is by comparison. So they try something can i kill someone and get away with it. Yes but it was tricky and gave me that rush wow lets see how many times i can do it before they find the first body.

There is something wrong with peoples heads if they have "favorite serial killers". I'm sure your opinion would change should one of your own family members where subject to one of them, god forbid. I want to say how childish but i think even children have more sense.

the killers with low iqs get caught after just one or 2 murders and don't have the opportunity to be considered serial
i don't have a favorite, they are all bad
