example: In plants, the result of meiosis is a spore, which gives rise to a gametophyte, a grown plant, which then creates gametes through mitosis.

And in fungi, gametes are produced through mitosis, as well.

So your statement, if it means that all eukaryotic organisms undergo meiosis to form gametes, is wrong. however, when gametes are formed, they do have to be fertilized in order to grow.
