Normally, you do not need to upgrade the BIOS unless there is an upgraded feature you need. Example..some upgrades may add RAID capabilities if SATA is already available. BIOS sets up the very basic configurations needed for the computer to at least boot and see hardware. Once it knows to find the boot drive, info on the boot drive will take over loading the OS and drivers for the hardware.

Updating a BIOS will allow the manufacturer to fix potential bugs and add extra options that may not be available in previous versions. The BIOS is the Basic Input Output System (it's an acronym) and it controls everything that happens in your computer. Think of it as your computer's brain, it makes everything work, without your computer will not be able to do anything.

Usually updating a BIOS is not necessary unless you are having major hardware issues as they may be fixed by a BIOS update.

Your BIOS processes everything you do all of the time. I can tell you do not know how to update it so do not try because if something goes wrong your motherboard will be ruined for good unless you have dual BIOS(if one of the bios gets ruined you have back up). Have someone who knows absolutely what they are doing to update it.
