My first child who is a month old now, when i brought Anthony home for the first week it seemed like non stop crying even know he didn't cry all the time. Now that he is a month old he still cries at times but im getting use to it (i think). I guess i would say the whole idea of being a first time mother everything is overwhelming. But the most is the crying and doing everything i can think of to find out why he was crying. And lack of sleep i got use to the feeding and diaper changing and changing his cloths every time the diaper leaked (i threw those diaper's out after a few days). But then when I look at my son its worth the sleepless nights full of crying, diaper changing, feeding, spitting up after all he looks to us his parents for everything he needs.

I would have to say that the most overwhelming thing that I encountered was when people would try and "help" me by giving advice. It is very well known that everyone raises their children differently, so I do not understand why people give "advice" unless they are asked to do so. I just couldn't keep up with all of it, of course there was some that was way off base from what my husband and I agreed with...but that would have to be it.
Something else that comes in a VERY close second would be when you have tried everything for your baby and still he or she cries and cries and cries. As a new mommy, you just want to be able to take care of everything for your new bundle, and there are times when a baby just needs to cry...but those are the times when mama is tried the most!

Nursing in the early weeks was definitely the most overwhelming part. It's difficult to go for so long without sleep, and then everything else starts to grate on you as well. It was such a reflief when my daughter started sleeping through the night.

My daughter was colic for the first 5 months of her life. Just dealing with her and taking care of my 2 year old was overwhelming.

Nursing overwhelmed me at first because it's truly around the clock with very short breaks in between, and it's impossible to get any sleep. I also found it extremely hard to get nursing down with visitors constantly coming and going.

i think the biggest thing was not having as much one on one time with my husband. He's my absolute rock and so not being able to just cuddle on the couch with him or have that couple time all the time was the hardest. But now we have family time and 3 months into it we're used to it and wouldn't trade it for the world

To me, it's the responsiblity overwhelm me. At 1st week, my son has lots of discharge from eyes, then found out his tear duct blocked; at 2nd week, he has LOTS of rash on his face, then found out those are baby acnes; at 3rd week, he spited out milk couple times....
At the first time parent, we were worry sick for all those little things.
Once told me it's easy to be a parent; but it's hard to be a good parent.. Welcome to the parenthood.
