well... i just bought an internal HDD... I can see the metal disk is exposed to the air , is it suppose to be like that?

if yes, should the disk face upward or downward when putting it in the case?? thx!!!

I'm pretty sure that yes, the disks should be exposed, and yes, they should face down(so nothing falls in it). What you need to do is look inside your PC to find how to seat it properly.

Ya the disk is supposed to be exposed and im pretty sure the disks should be face down. If you are not that sure just look inside the pc you are on.

I may be interpreting your question wrong, but you should not be seeing any spinning metal discs or any sort of moving parts. The entire hard drive is supposed to be sealed and you should see NO MOVING parts. If you see moving parts (like the actual discs, or the writing arm) then the hard drive has been opened and will probably not function. (and does not have anymore warranty either)

On the other hand, if you do not see any moving parts, then your hard drive is fine. It should be placed with the green circuit board down. You should see the brand label on top. Also, don't forget to set your jumpers to the correct position or the drive may not detect.

you need to line the drive up and put the screws in. Usually the metal part is the bottom, but the screws only will fit if the drive is seated properly.
