Thats not called a injury, thats called not used to bending over and working. If you done it often then you wouldn't have this problem.

ABSOLUTLY! Some of the worst injuries, are silent. They creep up on you days later, especially in your neck and back. My daughter was in a car accident, felt fine afterwards. When the insurance company asked if she had any injuries, and explained, they would cover medical expenses, she said "no". Because at time, she wasn't hurting. Several days later, she was in total agony with her back hurting her. Course, by then, she had to foot the bill.

I injured my back one time mowing the lawn, I was using a old push mower trying to mow grass feet two feet high. My "x" husband wouldn't mow it, and the land lord threatened eviction if it wasn't mowed. Anyway, a week or more later, I went to pick up something off the floor, and couldn't stand up! I've heard alot of people over the years tell me they did something one day, and felt the injury days later.

You probably noticed a slight strain, and ignored it. Then as you continued shoveling, it became more irritated with use. Try some Ibuprofen for inflammation and pain, apply heat to get blood circulating, and rest. Try not to engage in activities that will irritate the injury.

Yes you could have pinched a nerve. Happened to me, after a few days I was hurting so bad that I thought I had a heart attack. Was a pinched nerve in my upper back. I went to the hospital because my doc was on holidays. It went away by itself after three days.
