getting service with direct tv?

if they check my credit and i am not approved do they ask for you to pay a amount so that you can get it even though you didn't get approved this lady i talked said i had to pay $200

go with cable... dish service stinks!! & besides a dvr box there is no deposits required for equipment or service!!
