Venezia on University - excellent service, fabulous bartenders, and great prices. Food is always delicious, with an emphasis on regional Italian specialities. Try the antipasti, usually loaded with fresh mozzarella cheese, palate pleasing olives, and a melange of meats (prosciutto, cotta). Emphasis on quality, freshness (menu items may change throughout the year). Great ambience with a clothesline. If you are a lucky person, you'll be able to try the tartuffo, a rich and decadent chocolate dessert flown directly from Italy. All major credit cards accepted, great place for kids, reserve ahead of time.
Filippo's on College - service can be a little bit slow during peak times (6:30pm), but all in all, great food and attentive staff. Try the cioppino, a bowl filled to the brim with seafood (crab, mussels, white fish) in a deeply flavorful red broth/sauce. Drinks are limited to a few selections, but the staff will heartily make recommendations. Skip dessert (head over to Ici's next door). All major credit cards accepted, reserve ahead of time, difficult street parking.

All day dining at Palomino
Lost of variety (steak, pasta, paella, seafood, etc), great food (I like their crab cakes, and bread pudding), and great view of the Bay Bridge.

Sorry, I just realized it's Berkeley not SF. For Berkeley, try the following:
- Cafe Fanny. 1603 San Pablo Ave. 510-524-5447
- Cafe at Chez Panisse. 1517 Shattuck Ave. 510-548-5049
- Café de la Paz. 1600 Shattuck Ave. 510-843-0662
