The NFL should definitely look at it. Players will take less abuse and it makes overtime games a thrill to watch. Each team getting the ball and having to go 25 yards or so for a score is a great idea. The only thing is that the NFL should start the ball a little farther back than in college but it should switch to the college format.

I think the college version is much more fair. In the NFL whomever wins the coin toss and gets the ball 1st has a definate advantage. They just have to move the ball a bit and they're in field goal range. They can win the game w/o the other team ever touching the ball, how fair is that?! College rules have it right by having each team get a chance to score. But the NFL will never change this method now matter how arcane it is.

The NFL is usually slow to change something radical. Remember how long it took them to stick with instant replay and the two point conversion? Both are now here to stay and for the better of the game.
Instead of changing overtime to the college style, I'd like them to do away with the coin toss. Have the home team kick to the visiting team. If you're on the road and the game is tied, you should get the ball first.
I am not sure if the receiving team is as successful on the opening drive as most people think. It usually takes two or three first downs and a big play to get into field goal range.

Yes and No. I hate NFL sudden death. The idea that it pretty much comes down to the coin toss and whomever can get into field goal position first is ridiculous. I like the college set up to a point, but I would much rather see a timed overtime and whomever has the highest score at the end of the period wins.

Why? NFL sudden death is the better method. College version is lame and does nothing but reward an offensive team. Football is 3 fold...offense, defense, and special teams....the NFL version incorporates all 3, the college version doesn't. If anything the college game needs to change to the pro version.

No. The way college does it is fine for college. There would definitely have to be some changes to the format if the NFL used it. Such as, teams should start from the 40 instead of the 25, maybe set a limit on the amount of possesions. Other than that, the overtime period is fine.

Yes, because in the Pro overtime, whomever wins the coin toss almost always wins the game off a long field goal.

What's the point?

At least w/ college, the other team gets the same numbef of opportunities - kind of like baseball where the hometeam still gets to bat in the bottom of the inning.

I like the 15 minute overtime period but what I would like to see changed is that both teams have at least one opportunity to handle the ball offensively in overtime. If, however the team that won the toss and elected to receive would turn the ball over and the defense would score a TD then the game would end. In this way at least both teams received an opportunity to score or touched the ball in order to score.

I say something similar but not exactly, I don't like to see another team win after only one drive, but they do it for safety reasons. I say give each team 1 chance to tie and if they do, bring in the Kickers and let them kick it out (scoring field goals), put a return man back there for the excitement and potential run back. Then you can really start to hate your kicker!

Yes because that way every team has an equal chance at winning and games would be more exciting possibly making some of the greatest games of all time
