I'm from Singapore, and i'm part of the scouts marching contingent for this year's national day parade on august 9th. What are some good ways to stand at attention in the blazing sun for 1 or 2 hours without blacking out or getting a heat stroke?

Make sure you are well hydrated. Drink a quart of Gatorade the early morning of the parade and after the parade drink another one. This will insure you keep your electrolytes up.

In addition, when standing at attention, do not lock your knee's. I know that is harder than it sounds but locking your knee's increases your chances of passing out immensely.

Last but not least, be in good shape and insure you are use to being in the hot sun. You cannot go from air conditioned couch potato to two hours in an August sun and not expect problems.

GOOD LUCK!
