Why should the government regulate birth?

I am conducting a debate on if goverment should regulate birth. Can someone help me find some points on why should governments (not only US) regulate birth, with facts and sources?

This is not my personal opinion, but I have to debate it.

In China, I believe they already have. But it should also be pointed out that they have a population of roughly 1 and a half billion, which if I'm not mistaken is about a quarter of the world's population. While I think it was a necessary measure, one tragic consequence, seeing as sons seem to be valued more than daughters by a lot of people there (I'm not suggesting this is true of everyone by any means), is that this has led to infanticide or abandonment of baby girls in some instances.

I say yes regulate it...

To those that can't afford it to race so many children's...
Why because then who have to pay for racing those children's? The Welfare=taxes from the ones that work for a descent living.

And by the way even if the Gov. help them to race them, do they are having a good life NOT.

I am a single mom of two with a difference of age bet wen both of them. Because I can afford it and we live a great life.

I don't get and I don't need any benefit so there is an example.

At least teach people that having children's is a responsability of their own not the Goverment=Welfare responsability...

The Government, has no business to regulate families
Look at Commie China....1 offspring...We don't need Government to control us ...now for welfare families, YES...some sort of regulation, so they can't make a career out of welfare

Regulate you mean as in how many births you can have or how you can have your birth or what actions one can take if pregnant, a little more info please
