I said a long time ago that someone in the FBI would mess up and get all to interested in Americans who are not a threat to society. I turned out to be somewhat of a Prophet. But I suppose alot of us expected that to happen. I really do not have a problem with the Patriot Act itself. The problem is: You cannot trust everyone! Including those who are supposed to protect us and our rights. I have the upmost respect for those in uniform who do it right!! The internet is bad enough itself. Hacking is so easy these days because of all the technology that criminals can use and obtain. I respect president Bush for wanting to protect us! I believe that Mr. Bush is a sincere man! I knew that the Patriot Act was gonna have some difficulty eventually. We humans are curious creatures. Extremely nosey, and people spy for the fun of it. Hopefully they will get it staightened out and save time for the bad guys!!

More government control leads to communism or socialism. Something that our government will hopefully never become!

When ever I hear Patriot Act, I think of the Boston Tea Pary.
That was great move that sent an even greater message.

I view the Patriot Act much like I view building codes. I don't like them.. they're often a pain in the ***. But I understand why we need them and what would happen if we got rid of them.
And people who are going off about it making them lose freedoms.. are idiots. They've lost nothing.

The Patriot Act did more to remove personal freedoms than anything. Big Brother watches everything and everyone better now.

patriot is more than just spying on bathrooms in america as ppl think it is. it gave much needed money to first responders all around the country, more to the high risk areas.ppl think of only the color code also, that a small small facet of the act. its much needed and working great

The Patriot act is bad legislation. A knee jerk reaction in response to a National Tragedy.
I hope that Constitutional lawyers attack it until it is no longer law.

The Patriot act was never a favorite of mine. It does have a sunset date.
Do you think a democrat controlled congress will renew it?

I agree it was predictable the FBI would abuse their authority. What I don't understand is why don't we have more terror charges and prosecutions to go with the tens of thousands of privacy violations? Were they in fact all empty fishing expeditions? Does that really make the US safer?

I think it was a little out of hand.
Way to many loop holes to abuse.
I also don't like that the politicians admitted that they did not read it.
