Galileo has been described as the first scientist in the modern sense. He made the telescope and most probably at that time he couldn't see the moon that close and clear. He argued that the earth went round the sun, rather than the other way round.
he supported the earlier astronomer Copernicus, who had also argued that the sun was the center of the universe round which the planets revolved.
Both of them were tried by the church beacuse church believed that they are wrong.

Galileo was the first person to see and name the moons on other planets. He identified four moons on Jupiter.

Then he used the position of these moons to prove that the sun was the center of the solar system.

He was the first person to see the craters on the moon using his telescope. He later went on to discover several of the moons of Jupiter, thus why they are called the Galillean Moons.

Galileo didn't invent the telescope but he made one and with it saw the moons surface.
Probably things such as craters.
He also saw that Jupiter had moons revolving around it also.

I believe he thought he saw a horn on the moon, and thought the moon was a devil. Really it just looked like a horn because it was a crescent moon. He also thought Saturn had ears because when you look up at the night sky through a telescope, nothing is completely 100% clear, and if you see Saturn, it does appear that it has ears, when really, the "ears" are the rings.
