Ebay is an interesting company who's growth it getting it into uncharted waters. Their pairing with PayPal is brilliant - but now they have a choice to make. Do they work with the government to get their company on bar with other sales and banking organizations or do they maintain minimal regulations and put the burden of governmental satisfactions (customer satisfaction, taxes and earnings reporting, import export, authentication, etc.) onto those who use it?

It looks to me like they think it is a much too daunting task to regulate themselves so they pass the buck to the users and that is causing a LOT of trouble for anyone doing more than emptying their attic - i.e. people who think they can use eBay and PayPal to run a business.

I think that running a business though eBay can be risky business because eBay and PayPal can refuse and reverse transactions, lock accounts and expel users for ANYTHING and they do if there is anything questionable or the least bit out of the ordinary - and they do, particularly now with extra constraints of the Patriot Act and OFAC and how that applies to folks doing business internationally.

So my view on eBay is, it's a great place for what it was intended - online garage sale, physical overstock liquidation and collectible auctions. Everything else I think is kind of at your own risk.

Peace!

I really like ebay. At first I was skeptical of buying anything on there, but after a while I trust most people on their. You have to be careful of what you buy and make sure the seller has a good reputation and provides all the necessary photos, information, and details of what is included and not included. It is very important to ask questions.

I have gotten great deals on ebay on computer parts that I would not be able to get such a good deal on in a store.

I think its great, the only downside is that its still legal for people to sell concert tickets on there, and they cost far too much. Its not fair on people who really want to go to an event but can't afford ebay prices.
