At this moment in time the British sailor incidence is Great Britain's business, however, if we are called upon to help them we should do so without hesitation. Iran is taking their country too close to being bombed by Allie forces and they had better back off. It shows the world (which is prepared to do nothing) how much of a terrorist nation Iran really is. The other Arab nations will do nothing to prevent Iran from defying the world and so it may become necessary to teach Iran a lesson that they will never forget with or without the approval of the other nations in the middle east. Are we beginning to understand what Israel has been up against all of these years?

This anti-british crap from the americans is just that - crap. Firstly, we have the most elite forces in the world - the SAS and SBS. That is fact, not opinion. Don't ***** at me for it - I don't create facts, I just state them.
So we don't need help from the USA.
I've heard it said that the USA has never won a war on it's own.
I'm not anti-american - a few of my best friends are american and I'm going to California for 3 weeks this year for my 'vacation'.
Someone else stated that this incident will last a few days and all will be well. I totally agree.
Also, it's been mentioned that these sailors were in Iranian waters. What you failed to mention is - that is only what Iran has said. You also 'forgot' about the Iraqi fisherman who saw it happen when they were on board a ship in Iraqi territorial waters.
Some of you idiot want to try a little research before you start answering.
Awaiting thumbs-down status now ;)

The last thing we want is another f**king mess like Iraq. So wading in guns blazing is not a good idea.
But the Iranians are starting to look stupid - their conflicting reports of the locations - the predictability of showing the prisoners on tv admiting the were trespassing, cmon you savages! Weve seen all that before - just you cant see all the AK47's pointing at her off camera. Send in the SAS/SBS and paint the walls with these backward idiots.

Iran certainly seems to be picking a fight - HOWEVER they've done almost exactly the same thing before, captured British soldiers who they claim were in their waters (but were subsequently shown through satelite tracking to NOT be) and said they will be charged with espionage. However, Iran released them after a few days with no charge.
Iran would be foolish indeed to pick a fight with the US and Britain. Even US forces are simply too stretched to invade a country twice the size of Iraq with around 3 times the population, let alone Britain. However, they still have more then enough conventional firepower to destroy Iran's infrastructure in a few weeks (nuclear weapons are totally out of the question - it would almost certainly escalate into Moscow pointing THEIR nuclear weapons at the US in self defense, and who'd blame them?) Far more likely is that they are trying to get some revolutionary guards captured a few weeks ago released in an exchange, and are simply bluffing to appear strong to their people.

What you propose is pretty ridiculous...
For one this is something that must be resolved diplomatically, until we hear that these men have been harmed and/or are not going to ever come home.
two, if we attack Iran right off the bat... the captured men most certainly will not be coming home alive.
three, this is quite a problem because the Iranians allege that these sailors were in Iranian waters... this is just not the kind of thing that flies, when a country you are odds with has their military show up in your territory its unusual for them not to be apprehended. The Iranians claim the sailors admit to being in Iranian waters...
four, this has happened before in 2004, the Iranians captured the men and eventually let them go, and it was established to have been a misunderstanding.
five, Iran is a country the US and Britain are at odds with... so the Brits really should have been very careful about what they were doing out in those waters where there is a gray area as to who the waters belong to... Its just common sense... but they were probably just given their orders and were doing their job...
Pretty much if diplomacy fails, we'll just have to see what happens then.
This situation never should have occurred... in fact... in light of that... it kind of does make me wonder why the British had their sailors messing around in that area without direct orders to make sure they were careful about where they were at... ESPECIALLY considering this has happened before...
This is a bad situation and we should pray these guys get to come home.
For the people that want us to bomb Iran with nukes... if we do that then nuclear fallout will rain down upon our men and women in the region.... how do you like them apples?? Nice to see that all the so called patriots here are so concerned about the real patriots overseas. The only real way we could nuke Iran is if we brought our families back home... otherwise that would be an act of grave irrespnsibility.

I am from the UK but the navy lot were in Iran's waters so they deserve whatever they get.

Iran will cough up those red coats in a few days. the Iranian president never said it wants Israel wiped off the map, that was a proven misinterpretation. Iran is a definitely a problem, America shouldn't get involved in any other wars. the ones we have on our hands right now are already a mess. these recent wars have been run by politicians and not generals. at the risk of sounding barbaric, America should end the current wars until they intend on fighting them correctly, i.e. general Sherman's march to the sea. "war is hell" and should not be taken lightly. I shutter to think what will happen if these 8 men end up headless.

I do not think the US should attack Iran to retrieve British soldiers. Do not get me wrong, if the UK asked for our assistance then yes, we should do everything at our disposal to assist them. Until they ask we should stay out of it and let the British take the reigns. They have been around a long time and know how to take care of themselves in situations like this.
