I own a new business in a mini mall. One of the other business owners and his employees constantly uses extremely foul language with voices that carry throughout our floor. The mall owner is aware, but does not seem to be taking action. Other tenants and our customers do not want to listen to this. Please help.

Get together with a couple of these other store owners who disapprove of his behavior and pay him a visit, maybe invite him to lunch. Let him know how much his language and loud talking bothers all of you. Keep it civil.

If that doesn't help, the three of you need to pay a group visit to the mall's owner and tell him that this obnoxious person is affecting your sales. Demand that he do something. If he feels that he might lose three tenants, he might do something about it.

In some states it is still illegal to use foul language in the presence of women and/or children. You might ask the local police department if this is true in your area. Don't use the emergency line though - call them on the direct line! At the very least it would be considered "disturbing the peace".

It shouldn't be a problem. Look at Richard Nixon. He used foul language and he had at least a certain level of success. Don't sweat it.

Did this person talk like this when you became partners?

ask him/them to stop.. that's all you can do. At least when they are at the business.
