When I left my daughter with the baby sitter today I came home to a brand new wooden coffee table that was nearly loaded with pink nail polish, it is all over a flat screened television that I just bought as well does anyone know how to get this out without damaging the furniture?

ahhh!!! wow....that's great....well, the nail polish remover will work just fine on the TV set (non acetone though to be safest), anything that's not pourous it SHOULD be fine on...at least the screen, but to be safe i'd still rub some on an area you can't see well first juuuust to be on the safe side. as far as the table though, I'm not sure....that might be an expensive fix, I do not know of anything that will break down nail polish but not hurt the wood finish at the same time....you might have to remove the polish, and then sand and refinish the table....it looks like you've got some free babysitting coming your way to cover damages....sorry, but I hope this helps..

Tough problem. Most things that will remove nail polish will also remove the finish from the table and will melt or disfigure the screen of a TV unless the screen is made of glass.

If the TV screen is glass then use nail polish remover and keep the remover away from any plastic parts. For the table and or any plastic, all I can suggest is gentle chipping with a fingernail or a piece of think wood or plastic. Even then, you're still apt to lose some of the finish off the table.

Good luck.

Sue your babysitter for replacement costs. The flat screen TV try carefully fingernail polish remover in a small area at corner of screen and see if it damages screen if not then there is answer for TV try on coffee table same and if it does not remove finish again you have your answer. Oh yes suing baby sitter is a bit much but I would not use her again!

Others said use non acetone fingernail remover, Try that kind first.

OMG! I hope you fired the baby sitter! This is terrible. I had some ink on just a small spot on one of my tables and tried nail polish remover, and it ruined it~so be really careful IF you try it. I'm sorry, but your table with probably have to be refinished:( You might try the non-acetone type~on a Q-tip~ and see what happens, but no guarantees unfortunately.
Best of Luck:)

Use nail polish remover but be prepared to refinish the coffee table.

wd-40 works great on furniture for removal of almost any stain and will not damage the finish. Also works on automobiles. As for the T.V. check the owners manuel as to which cleaners are acceptable.
