I tried silk ones from Hobby Lobby, but they sink to the bottom of th bowl that we are going to be using.

hi many flower places, sell day old or a few day old roses for a $1. a piece. If you order rose petals specifically (fresh ones) they will charge you an arm & a leg.

BUT--if you go in a few days prior to your wedding, or send a friend to a different flower store that does this & you should shop around to find a few before you do this.

Send out that many friends, to buy as many as they can the day prior to your wedding OR the day of your wedding if there is time. Roses can be kept in the fridge.

Then have your friends help you shred the petals from the stems & use them.

I also hunted around in yard sales & found artifical ones that someone was selling for 1/5 the price of ones in the store!

Do you want real rose petals? Will fake ones from the craft store in the wedding aisle be acceptable? You could ask a local florist or greenhouse if they have any cast off petals that aren't brown with age. They want roses to look as nice as they can to attract buyers. They throw discarded petals away. Doesn't hurt to ask. Congratulations & Good luck.

At my grocery store, which has a florist in it they sell like a pint size box for a dollar with rose petals. Call around to florists and ask if they sell rose petals for cheap.

You can fill the bowls with mineral spirits ( paint thinner) then put water on top of that so it doesn't smell like paint thinner. The fake ones will float on the mineral spirits. So if you wanted to you could put it half full and they will look like they are floating in the middle. Try to get the low odor kind. Can get it at homedepot or Ace Hardware.

If you are wanting to use silk, try eBay! They have a ton of silk flowers on there cheap~and you could just "dis-assemble" them.
Congratulations & Good Luck!!

IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR FAKE PETALS MOST DOLLAR STORE CARRY SMALL TUBS OF THEM. IF THEY LOOK TOO CHEAP TRY LIGHTLY SPRAYING THEM WITH SOME GLITTER SPRAY PAINT FROM WALMART
