my son is 8 weeks old and his nose is sorta stuffed up, he can breath but at times he seems to have trouble, his doctor said that we should put saline drops in each nostril and then use a nose pump thing (not sure of the name) to suck it out, we have been doing that , but each time we really dont get much out and sometimes we get nothing at all, but you can still hear that he is stuffed up? any other ways to help get the boogers out!!!

hi-I have this same problem, my baby is 9 weeks now and had a stuffy nose since we brought her home
be sure to use the sucky thing that the hosp. gave you-it is longer and much more flexible than the ones in the store
I suck about a tablespoon of stuff out of each of her nostrils every time I do it.
oh-also, try to keep the other nostril blocked/covered as you suck out the one side-that helps to get a lot out.

I try to suck her nose out after she sneezes-that helps to get a lot out too.

A steam not cool humidifier works well. My 11 month old just had a cold had a stuffy nose and had congestion. It really did help. Try it out. You can also just turn on the hot shower sit in the bathroom do it several times a day if you don't have or can't get a hot humidifier. Keep using the saline and cleaning out the nose.

You may want to try letting him nap near a humidifier. This will ease his congestion throughout his sinuses and into his chest as well. Just make sure that the steam is not directly coming towards your child, and that the humidifier is far enough away that, if a spill occurs, you do not have the danger of the hot water scalding him.

I had that problem and still do..unfortunately the baby is too young to be prescribed something. You have to be really careful because that could turn into RSV. It happend to my son. Make sure you are constantly washing your hands. My doctor told me to take warm water put it on my hand and let a few drops go into his nose, also, if your breast feeding let a few drops go into his nose, that helps too.

the saline drops are the best way...there is also a saline gel ...its saline plus aloe...you smear it under the baby's nose and in a minute or two he is clear..... take him into the bathroom with you and the shower on HOT....
