I just replaced my floors, and have some spacing even after re-installing the original trim (yes, I'm a novice!). I'm adding some quarter-round onto the trim to cover up the spacing in some areas.
I want to glue it down, but I'm not sure if I should glue it on the floor side or wall/trim side? Help!

Glue Or Nail Quarter Round

Don't glue it. Nail to the wall or base molding with finish nails. You never want to attach it to the floor. The floor needs to be able to expand and contract, that is why you leave the space between the flooring and the wall.

I just installed laminate flooring over the top of the vinyl. It worked just fine. But make sure the floor is okay, We used a fill in along the sides to smooth it out. There was a couple of places that had holes. Good luck Grandma Sue

You want to nail it with finishing nails. These are small nails. Some even come in colors. Other wise paint over the nails. Make sure the nails are pounded into the the trim well. They should not stick out.

no, no, no, dont glue it down. use small finishing. probably no. 4. use a prick punch to set the nail just below the surface of the wood. if you wont listen to these answers, then dont glue it to the floor. bad mistake.

If the space isn't to large...........a nice smoothed bead of latex caulking can hide gaps......and is paintable. Even after you've NAILED your quarter round down, you can still use caulking to hide any gaps between it and the wall, or floor.

Good luck

As the others have written, the trim is nailed (to the wall).
