You are not correct, the word has been around for a long time. 1800's. You need to get a grip and not speak so loudly before you know what you are talking about. This is why this question gets so much attention because it gets everyone upset. It may be said differently now but it is still the same word.

well, I don't use the word ni99er! nor does anyone I know use the word ni99er. the word ni99er is not nice to use. people just wonder if they could use n1gga, not ni99er, since it's sort of a slang that is used by black people. if blacks can use it then all can use it. the word ni99er has history of racism linked to it, so I hope no body on this planet uses the word ni99er.

actually it is a word that was used in slavery. ***** is a spanish for the word black (as what the spaniards called them) Americans simply picked up on the term and it became dergatory to blacks because it was not their alias that was used. just like the terms, boy, n999r, black tar etc.

actually if you hear the way spanish say *****, you can easily hear the term ni999r in it. Wikipedia? LOL thats where you get your information from? dont give me atitude because your ignorant

well, for me i have no desire to call anybody a "ni99a" but, i do understand where they are coming from. i do think that it's stupid they get mad when someone not of a dark complexion calls them that. but only because it's a bit hypocritical don't you think? i believe that all colors of human species are equal. but when the African American community gets upset and says there isn't an equality, i think that they are causing one when they don't allow others to share in their culture.

to sum it up: though i don't use it myself because of it's derogatory background, i think either everyone should be able to use that word in a non-offensive manner or nobody should.

Well a minority historian at my university told me that a subculture (such as African American culture, Hispanic American culture, etc) will at times transform bad terminology created by the dominant culture (which in slave times was white American culture) into acceptable use among themselves. I hear Hispanics call each other w*******, but I've never found myself wanting to refer to a Hispanic as such. I also see no reason why a white person would deem it necessary to refer to their black compadre as ******. It's psychological and the term should be exclusive to that racial group.
