Using the psp with the ps3?

Is there any website that gives clear information about downloading firmware updates onto your psp and then transferring it to the ps3 using a usb connection? I've tried it already but the ps3 is telling me that the update isin't on the psp even though I'm sure it is. When I access the psp via my computer, the updated file is there. When I check my psp or check with the ps3, I can't find anything.

Make a "PS3" folder next to the "PSP" folder. Then put the PS3 update in that folder. That's how I updated my PS3 before I got a router.
