You may go online to this webpage and they will list the foods that are included on the recall list. It also gives you links to information about the poison detected in the food. Some companies are doing a voluntary recall of their product to be sure they were not tainted. If you have any questions regarding the health of your pet, contact your veterinarian. They can also recommend a food that is not included on this list. Good luck!

The menu foods products that are affected are all in gravy. The loaf variety wet food is still okay to feed. Not that it's the best for your dog. Like many others I feel that the best thing to do is feed a dry diet. But I know there are those that feel that their dogs need extras.

There are still plenty of canned food that are safe. Pedigree company's foods are not affected, neither is alpo or little ceasar. But in all honesty they are not the best canned foods out there.

Blue Buffalo and Nature's Recipe are two premium canned foods that have not been affected. Both companies boast no by products in their products, no wheat, and no corn. They are both loaded with fresh veggies and good sources of protein such as venison, rabbit, lamb and turkey. Nature's Recipe also has a vegetarian formula.

There are also the holistic types of food that are safe. Organics by nature and Avoderm are good examples of these.

For those of you that have been feeding the premium foods (nutro, eukanuba, etc.) the foods that are loaf variety (that is nothing in gravy) are still safe.

According to the website, it's 'only' the moist food in cans and satchets/pouches that's poisoned. Apparently dry food is okay.

However, if I was feeding a dog or a cat at the moment, frankly, I'd only feed fresh meat from your local butchers.

Mix in a food processer or chop up really really good with a knife: 2 cans of diced potatoes and 1 can of red salmon Include the bone and skin of the salmon. Check with your vet before changing your dog's food. But a good homemade dog food needs to be 2 parts starch, (potatoes) and 1 part protein, (salmon) Good Luck

Other than IAMS and EUKANUBA they were mostly small house brands. The major companies such as FRISKIES were not on the list since they probably produce the food they sell. I am certain that all stores have pulled the products off the shelves. To be safe just use dried food for a while.

For now, I'm sticking with dry foods (I have cats, but cat food is also affected). If your dog isn't happy with dry food, you might mix up a bit of beef or chicken bullion to pour on the dry food to tempt him a bit more. If worse comes to worse, get scraps from a butcher/meat market and make your own; better to take a little extra trouble than to lose a beloved pet!

I would have to say that Pedigree is probably the safest! It was not on the recall list and dogs love it! It also is not very expensive and comes in many different flavors!

I believe its just the "cuts and gravy" and also there is a huge list.

You can go to the FDA website to find a list. Or just type in "menu foods recall list" or something in Yahoo.
