When Kobe came into basketball right out of high school, he was heralded as the next Michael Jordan.
Unfortunately, those are impossible shoes to fill, as people remember Jordan's accomplishments after being in the league overall, but tend to forget the fact that Jordan did not do so well, early in his NBA career.
Like Kobe used to be, Jordan was a ball hog, who did not care to get his teammates involved. Doesn't anyone remember the book, "The Jordan Rules"?
Jordan also had friction with his first coach, Doug Collins, causing Collins (an excellent coach and NBA commentator) to be terminated by the Bulls. Thereafter, the Bulls hired a coach with no NBA head coaching experience, Phil Jackson, who was in the mold of Bill Russell's style of coaching; just being mellow, and letting things flow.
However, once the "Zen Master" began asserting himself, Jordan had friction with Jackson.
Jordan also had his own indiscretions, including a gambling scandal that allegedly forced him out of basketball for a couple of years.
My point is, people tend to discount Kobe's abilities, becaue they had unreasonably high expectations for him, but forget that the person who he had been compared to, Michael Jordan, also had his issues.
Therefore, I agree that Kobe is the greatest player playing, and that people should give him a little slack, and forgive his past transgressions; just enjoy the show...

ok, for the main area, I hate on Kobe Bryant in basic terms because of the fact he's overhyped. If there wasn;t a lot "praising" of him (Like Chris Paul and Dwight), i might cheer for the guy, however the over-hype in the direction of the guy is demanding to the element I hate him. anyhow, staring on the hype, i'm in basic terms not seeing what it replaced into all approximately. particular, he has been an spectacular participant those previous years, and arguably between the bext gamers immediately, yet to glorify him tot eh component to ultimate immediately/ultimate of All-Time? After watching pastime 6 against teh Celtics, i might disagree very much. i'm even prepared to declare Lebron is greater effectual than Kobe after that element. Lebron took the Celtics to pastime 7, dropping in basic terms by way of 5 factors if I submit to in techniques properly. The Lakers lost at domicile, blowing their extensive lead pastime 4, and then going to Boston and letting the Celtics kill them 39 factors in a considered necessary pastime. the place replaced into Kobe I asked? The "ultimate" disappeared. After that, Kobe should not be the final now, yet between the final instead. So end the hype of "Kobe is ultimate", otherwise i'm going to easily coach much greater of ways he does not deserve the final identify. i know he's an spectacular participant, inspite of the undeniable fact that it stops there.

Are ya'll for real?
Kobe used to be arrogant. He used to be cocky. I'm not saying he's completely lost that side of him but there's more arrogance in the NBA. What about Carmelo? Arenas? James?
He's toned down a bit, I mean c'mon! He can be scoring 50+ points every game for the rest of the year but he doesn't care:he wants his team to win.
And why is it that when he starts taking shots to win a game coz he team wont do it that he's called a ballhog, and then when he starts to distribute more they want him to shoot? Then when he starts shooting again people start calling him a ballhog?
Is it because people are afraid the names of M.Jordan and W.Chamberlain are in jeopardy? Guys, he's only 28 and still going. So ya'll can just continue hating-he's just gonna get better over the years.

i definitely agree with you! i dont think he is the greatest, but definitely the top three...i think people tend to overlook him just because they are not ready to believe that he can be better than some of the top players from the past...also people hate him because of everything he has gone through personally

I don't understand either...Some people think that he is selfish (I don't know why? His teammates don't) Taking over a game isn't selfish, willing your team to win isn't selfish...I think if you have the talent to win the game for your team when they need it and don't, then that's pretty selfish? This guy has been one of the best players in the league for years and unselfishly played second fiddle to shaq, until...he could have only done that for so long...like him or not, u can't expect someone with that type of talent to be someone's sidekick for too long...Also, people confuse his personal life with his sporting life...one has nothing to do with the other. I'm really annoyed with the people who judge any athlete on their personal lives...who are they to judge? We have no business even knowing about their personal life...let alone judging it. Those types who judge athletes on their personalities are usually non-athletic wannabe types - who can't analyze the sport, so they stick their two-cents in on something they're more familiar with (however irrelevant to the game) like being a nice person and throwing stones at others for their personal mistakes...pathetic, judgemental d*ck heads!

I think everyone can agree on his talent level. For my money, he's the best current player.
It's his arrogance that makes him disliked, plain and simple. The very ********* that gives him fire on the court, turns people off. And his loyalty to his team has always been in question, even before his lowhanded comments about Shaq a few years ago. I think most hoops fans share my sentiments - oncourt his talent is apparent - but he still seems like a real son of a *****.
