I would put half into Cancer research and half toward the fight against drugs, and when the drug barons are locked up safe and sound we wouldnt need a rehab centre. Although there will always be some who need rehab of some sort, be it drugs drink whatever. But there many centres around the UK alraedy dealing with these problems. Mental health units for instance treat such problems, and there are at least 5 good large centres within 40 miles of my house, plus small clinics which deal with the problem. The labour party are committed to dealing with both and i think research centres as well as rehab centres are already there for the use of sufferers. Thanks to good investment over the last 10 years.

I would spend it 50:50 because both are equally deserving programs but would the cancer centre be just for treating and if so what types of cancer or would it also include a hospice and holistic centre for untreatable cancers. Also would they be placed in that part of the country that had the most need for either cancer cases or drug rehabilitation services. I would also want to know what the success rate was in the case of rehabilitation and where the most need was in the case of a cancer centre.

my dad has just had treatment for cancer and the NHS supported him really well. However I work with speech therapists and I know that people who need rehab in the community after a stroke or an accident often have to wait weeks for this once they have left hospital so if you're talking about this kind of rehab then I would choose that option. If you meant rehab for substance abuse then I would choose cancer care

Is this a hypothetical question, or base on things as they are now? If the latter, then the Government has made massive investment in cancer screening and care over the last few years, so it maybe that rehab would be a higher priority area now.

If I was Health Secretary, in this 'oh so wealthy country '
I would make sure, that

both these branches of health care

Got equal , amounts of funding ,
to cover, all their running costs

This cannot, be regarded ,as an either or situation .

If funding is needed ,
for care in the National Health Service
it must be found ;

we are now in the horrendous situation, of not being funded for staff,
in most vital areas of the Health Service .

despite the Government ,saying that more money
===IS put into the NHS.every year ,

Money is in fact being leached,=== out of it daily

This cannot go on !!!

I dont know what are involve in cancer center does it needs buildings, medical machines, treatment facility, radioactive chemicals, specialist or consultants, bedrooms for how many patient etc... one millon pound is too small for this. If for this budget i cant put enough facilities needed for this purpose why bother , it will render useless. Better to spend it in rehabilatation center as it did not required much needed hitech medical equiptment and drugs compared to cancer center besides lots of patient (drug Addicts) can accomodate for that amount.

Id spend it on whatever the greater need in that area was. Both are equally important cos everyone deserves the chance to be as healthy as possible.

Cancer centre definitely. Cancer isn't by choice, but drugs are.
