Jackie was loved more outside of the USA than Jack was so he used to take her with him on international visits as the Europens preferred to see Jackie and her latest style rather than him

Jackie was interested in interior design and repainted and refurnished the White House - several times during JFK's presidency.

Jackie's sense of style was adored and copied all over the world, particularly her Valentino dresses, her big glasses and simple dresses which she teamed with pearls - still copied even now and attributed to her style.

She re-furbished the White House in real antiques and restored it to the way it was when earlier presidents lived there. She supported the arts, fashion, and music and made the White House a place of culture and refinement. The world respected the US because of Mrs. Kennedy's efforts. Her travels overseas with her husband resulted in much good publicity.

Senator Kennedy suffered crippling pain in his back from a wartime injury and he had two operations. While recovering from surgery, Mrs. Kennedy encouraged him to write a book about several U.S. senators who had risked their careers to fight for the things in which they believed. The book, called Profiles in Courage, was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for biography in 1957.

From home Jackie helped her husband, answering thousands of campaign letters, taping TV commercials, giving interviews and writing a weekly newspaper column, Campaign Wife.
