She will sleep from 2am until about 7 or 8am now. How do I get her on a schedule where she will fall asleep earlier than 2am? It seems like she is the most wide awake between 9pm and 2am. I've tried to wake her up as much as possible during the day, but its hard to keep a sleeping baby awake!!

I can tell you what I tried, but I don't know whether it will work for someone else!

I found that my daughter would sleep most soundly after a long feeding at night. I was, like you, up with her until 2, 4, even 6 a.m. breastfeeding her every 2-4 hours.

I've managed to get her into a bedtime window of midnight-1:30 a.m. by doing these things
- keeping lights down during night feedings,
-having the radio on at low volume while feeding and then leaving it on for a while as she goes to sleep
-feeding her until she drifts off during the evening (usually shorter feedings- 10-20 minutes) and then keeping her awake (tickling her ears or feet if she drifts off) for a long feeding (30-40 minutes for a newborn) right before I plan to go to bed
-letting her doze for a minute or so between feeding and burping
-making sure her bed is all ready and warm (if it's cold in the house) and cradling her in my forearms as she settles into the bed instead of just depositing her there and leaving.

Good luck! Sweet dreams!

I know what your going through! Both of my babies were the same way! And it is really hard to wake and keep an infant awake! If you breastfeed and drink coffee cut back on the coffee or drink decaf. Try giving her a bath and a back massage around the time you want her to sleep.. Or whatever routine you do when she goes to sleep at 2. Her nap time during the day try waking her up 15 minutes or so before she'd normally wakes up. You should smile though your 2 month old sleeps about 6 hours through the night. Some parents get woke up every 2 hours!! I hope this helped.

the best thing to do during the day is get on a really good eating schedule and then do things in the following order. Eat play and then sleep Even though it's a little harder to play with them when they're that little anything stimulating the brain will help them to wake up. Also around the time you want her to go to bed give her a long bath and that will help relax her. If that doesn't work you might ask your pediatrician for advice. Hope this helps and good luck.

It sounds like your 2 month old has day-night confusion. Sometimes, the best thing for this is to establish a bedtime routine, maybe starting with a warm bath, a bottle, and rocking her to sleep. However, keep in mind that her sleeping hours might not change... If you get her to sleep at 10PM, four hours earlier than what she is doing now, she might just as easily wake up four hours earlier, at 3 or 4AM! Try to find a happy medium with a routine.

Ha ha ha! I am sorry to laugh but me too! I have a two month old that will not sleep at night and sleeps like a angel during the day. I enlist my sons help during the day (he is two). She likes to watch him play more than me because he is closer to his size. That is the only way I can have her awake during the day and not screaming. Find what she likes and so that as much as you can to keep her up during the day. She still needs to sleep but more so at night. It is a gradual transition but it will happen, for both of us!!

my daughter did the same thing for a while, you just have to keep tring to keep her awake do whatever you can. My doctor even had me rub a cold wash cloths on her feet to keep her up. But do not worry soon enough she will get on a better schedule. good luck and congrats.
